Milwaukee Film Festival to feature Indian films
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Film Festival is creating a program that focuses on one country and the first one this year will be India.
According to the festival, the program called “With Passport: India” will cover a wide scope of Indian films from traditional to contemporary Bollywood hits, documentaries made by outsiders and independent films.
In a statement, the festival’s executive director Jonathan Jackson says there’s no better way to launch the program than to highlight the home of the largest film industry in the world.
This year’s festival runs from Sept. 22 through Oct. 2. The full lineup and schedule will be announced Sept. 3.

The 5 best villainous turns by Bollywood good guys
They ran around trees, romanced their ladies on snow-capped mountains and rescued a damsel or two in distress, but that hasn’t stopped them from donning the bad man’s hat a couple of times. Having risked playing the bad guy, their performances have ensured that their character’s menacing ways stay with you long after the closing credits. And now that Munnabhai aka Sanjay Dutt is all set to play the badass Kancha Cheena in Karan Malhotra’s remake of the 1990s classic Agneepath, Shakti Salgaokar looks at Bollywood’s favourite good guys who turned over to the dark side with style!
Shah Rukh Khan in Darr and Anjaam
Who can forget the loner muttering ‘K-k-k-Kiran’, who walks on the edge and talks to his dead mother in Darr? And who can forget the arrogant, obsessive businessman attracted to an airhostess who snubbed him out over his demand for a drink in Anjaam? Probably, the first leading hero to portray negative characters in the modern age, King Khan’s portrayal of Rahul Mehra in Darr gave a chilling demonstration of obsession gone too far. However, his portrayal of Vijay Agnihotri in Anjaam whose obsession entangled with his ego forces him to drive Shivani’s life into a dark hell hole was streaked with dark shades of grey, even as he is left paralysed.

Yuvraj denies dating Salman’s sister
Yuvraj Singh is not one to get flummoxed easily. His cool, calm demeanour comes in very handy on the field.
But what is it about him that wins him so many friends? And that too with leading hotties of Bollywood.
In the past, Yuvi has managed to fuel link-up stories with Deepika
Padukone, model Aanchal Kumar, Ameesha Patel and Neha Dhupia.
And he was reportedly in a relationship with Kim Sharma.
Now, the cricketer was spotted at a South Delhi hotel with none other than Salman Khan’s younger sister, Arpita, reports Mumbai Mirror.
“Arpita knows Yuvraj for some time now. They are very close friends. Yes, they were together at the five star hotel in south Delhi on Sunday. They were there for quite sometime, actually,” a close friend of Arpita’s told the tabloid.
Yuvi made his way into the Khan family after he moved to Mumbai in 2009. He was frequently pictured at family functions and film screening with the family. He grew close to Arpita and the two have been friends for a while now.
“Yuvraj and Arpita were seen together at a five star hotel in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on Sunday evening. The hotel has a new club, which opened recently. Yuvraj and Arpita spent a lot of time in the club that day. They were not accompanied by others,” confirmed another source.
But Singh denies even being at the hotel.
“This is absolutely baseless and I request everyone to stop spreading rumours about me. Arpita is a friend and I know her for many years now. As a matter of fact, I wasn’t at the hotel at all lately. There is not an iota of truth in what you are trying to write,” said Yuvraj Singh, when contacted by the tabloid, while Arpita remained unavailable for comment.
Wonder what’s cooking…

Govinda sued by film producer
A non-cognizable offence has been registered against Bollywood actor Govinda for allegedly abusing and threatening to kill a film producer during a meeting of the Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers Association in the suburban Khar, police said today.
The film producer Praveen Khanna complained
to police in writing that the actor had on August 24 abused and threatened to kill him after a heated argument during the IMPPA meeting in Palinaka, said Mangesh Pote, senior inspector at Khar police station.
After the written complaint, an NC was registered against the former Congress MP, Pote said.
The actor had not yet been called to the police station for the purpose of investigation, he said, adding the argument between the two appeared to have taken place on an issue related to a film.
Meanwhile, sources in police said the actor had signed a movie but was not giving dates to the producer and this issue may have led to the heated exchange.

Bond goes Bollywood– ‘Carte Blanche’ gets cleared to film in India
The title that’s running rampant on the Internet rumor mill is “Carte Blanche,” a much better title for a James Bond film than say, “Quantum of Solace.”
That’s the title of Jeffrey Deaver’s new James Bond novel.
The plot will involve Serbs, a big train stunt, a plot to poison the Danube.
And a lot of the shoot will be in India.
It’s not like James Bond has never been to India before. “Octopussy” comes to mind.
But there were hangups over permitting, etc., with the 23rd James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig and to be directed by Sam Mendes. The threat was made to move that portion of the production to South Africa.
Now those threats have been cleared up, and its chai and curries all around.
It’s good to see that MGM’s rights and money issues have cleared up enough so that they can finally shoot this thing. Perhaps the added delay led to a script polish that will lift this above the earlier Daniel Craig Bonds.

No one can compete with me: Shah Rukh
He has reached the pinnacle of success as an actor in the Hindi film industry and is hailed as the ‘King’ of Bollywood, but Shah Rukh Khan says he fails to understand the reason behind his popularity. The 45-year-old actor, who rose to fame through his hard work without any film connections, says
he has never been able to analyse how he became a movie star.
“I’ve never understood why I succeeded as an actor. I went from Delhi to Mumbai at the age of 22 and eventually became a movie star, but I’ve never been able to analyse my success,” said Shah Rukh.
His parents died when he was young and the Ra. One star says he does films to make them proud and this target makes him invincible in the industry. “I wanted to make movies so big that my parents can see my success from above. No one can compete with me because no one else has this target,” said SRK, who was in the capital to launch management guru Arindam Chaudhuri’s new book Thorns To Competition.
The actor, who began his Bollywood journey with the film Deewana in 1992 and went on to deliver hits like Dil To Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, said he is obsessed about his career and does everything for himself. “I am obsessed about my career. I do my job for me, not for anyone – not for my son or daughter or wife. I want to die in the flash of lights from the camera – that’s how obsessed I am,” he said.
From endorsing men’s fairness creams to dancing at weddings, Shah Rukh has broken a number of conventions and has no qualms in admitting that he does all that to earn money. “I don’t come for free so I am very cheap. You can make me do an item number in films, dance at a wedding, do street theatre as long as it makes people smile. I sell dreams, I think I can sell anything. Life comes with a price tag and a little money makes living easier.”
