Unc0ver Jailbreak Steps Up To Version 3.2.0 But Unable To Crack iOS 12.2-3

It might be that all eyes are now set on iOS 13 but a new jailbreak release always grabs the attention of iPhone and iPad users. To this end and as if to coincide with Apple’s 2019 WWDC, hacking team unc0ver has just unleashed Version 3.2.0 of their jailbreaking tool that promises a leapfrog in reliability and certainly notable cosmetic changes.

If interested, the jailbreak has been posted by unc0ver team leader @Pwn20wnd on the group’s GitHub repository that can be found here.

So what is new with the iOS unlocking tool? As indicated, the dependability factor climbed a notch higher as the team worked up to further enhance “the reliability of the jailbreak with the machswap and machswap2 exploits.”

In addition, @Pwn20wnd and his dev friends dealt with the previous version’s known bugs and specifically updated the “jailbreak-resources to fix an issue with the CS_DEBUGGED option.” The group then is proud to announce that unc0ver 3.2.0 is so far the best that they can offer.

The most prominent changes though that came with the new release covered largely on the user interface, which surely is welcome, according to iPhoneHacks.com. The design tweaks resulted in a long-requested UI makeover.

It used to be that “the unc0ver jailbreak app looked dated and paled in comparison to Chimera’s excellent jailbreaking app.” It’s no longer the case with unc0ver 3.2.0 now ready to download, the report added.

And it sure looked like that unc0ver does not intend to lag behind and jump the gun on both Team Electra and Apple as the group’s latest jailbreak now includes a Dark Mode. The same feature has been long-rumored to debut with iOS 13 at the 2019 WWDC, CNET said in a report.

However, while unc0ver seems steps ahead on what they do the jailbreak they provide remains limited in scope. Again it was confirmed that the jailbreaking tool version 3.2.0 will only work on iOS devices powered by versions starting from 11.0 up 12.1.2. The message was clear – unc0ver has managed to improve on their jailbreaking efforts but the door remains shut on cracking open iOS 12.2 and up.

That is not to say though that the latest iOS builds are impregnable. Security researchers have maintained that there will always be weak points on the mobile operating system that they can poke into. Thus a jailbreak on all iOS versions is always a possibility.

For now, it can be presumed that for practical reasons, the last working iOS 12 jailbreak could be on version 12.1.2. That’s because iOS 13 is practically out and for most devs, it would be more worth their while to refocus on unlocking the latest official iOS release.
